survey by technical team 3In line with the aims and objectives of Coliso Ghana to improve the socio-economic conditions of rural communities in Ghana through the enhancement of access to good health, good drinking water, proper sanitation, quality education and employment; Coliso is implementing a project to provide portable water and modern public toilet facilities to four rural communities in Ghana This project is being executed with support from FOS Belgium, The Flemish Government, The City of Antwerp, TMVW-Waterlink, a water company in Belgium and Ghana Council ( the umbrella organisation of the Ghanaian Community members in Belgium). Akim Kotokuom (near Akim Oda) in the Eastern Region is one of the beneficiary communities.

 

The rest are Tanoso Odumasi (Ashanti region), Wassa Sah (Western Region), and Jema Nante (Brong Ahafo region). The water provision component consists of the mechanization of boreholes and the setting up water distribution systems through public standpipes. The execution of the project has commenced with the initial launching at Akim Kotokuom during a gathering of the chief and elders, the Hon Member of Parliament of Ofoase/Ayirebi Constituency, Community members, the technical team and the staff of Coliso.

The District Assemblies of the beneficiary communities are expected to provide cash or in-kind support to the project and communites must provide communal labour and other forms of support .
