Akim Bontodiase gets potable water

A mechanized potable water system for the people of Akim Bontodiase in the Akyemmansa District in the Eastern Region of Ghana has been commissioned at a ceremony at Akim Bontodiase. The water project facility provided under the “ Provision of potable water (with solar energy) and improved sanitation in three rural communities in Ghana”

was financed by Flemish Community Government, Flemish Partnership for Water Development, FOS Belgium,  DEME4Life Foundation, Algemene Centrale (AC-Antwerpen) and Ghana Council Belgium and implemented by Community Livelihoods Support Organization (COLISO GHANA), an NGO with head office in Accra and local office at Akim Oda in the Eastern Region of Ghana

At the commissioning ceremony, Nana Adarkwa Dwamena II Chief of Bontodiase said he was grateful to the financiers for the support they have given to the people of Bontodiase. He also commended the management of COLISO GHANA for helping to address the difficulties in accessing good drinking water as well as improved sanitary system in the community.

In a short address the Executive Director of COLISO, Mr Yaw Asante-Anyimadu said the sanitation component of the project which involves the construction of a 12 seater modern water closet facility will be completed and commissioned in November 2015.

The President of the Ghana Council Belgium, Mr Kwaku Boamah Acheampong who is also the Director of Programs of FOS Belgium, advised both the community leaders and the people to take proper care of the facilities and implement proper management and maintenance programs.

Present at the ceremony included Mr Isaac Kwaku Asare, Dr Edward Akwasi Ampofo, Ms Anastasia Atiogbe, all being Board Directors of COLISO

Under the same project, two other communities named Oda Nkwanta in the Birim Central Municipality and Abenase in the Akyemansa District all in the Eastern region of Ghana are to be provided with water and sanitary facilities by COLISO in 2016 and 2017.
